Chelmsford Integrated Preschool (CHIPS) Chelmsford Integrated Preschool (CHIPS) provides meaningful education to developing young children. Our program addresses the whole child recognizing the importance of facilitating communication, the delight of imaginative play, the development of fine and gross motor skills, the acquisition of self help skills, and the all important foundations of literacy. Using the Massachusetts Preschool Curriculum Guidelines, children with and without special needs are exposed to a rich preschool environment.
Local School District Procedures. School districts are encouraged to develop local problem resolution procedures that allow parents to present a concern to a district representative and receive a response related to the concern. Local procedures shall not be used to delay or deny a parent's right to access other dispute resolution mechanisms.
What is the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education's Problem Resolution System? The Problem Resolution System is the Department's process for receiving, reviewing and resolving concerns from the public regarding students who allegedly are not receiving educational services, students with disabilities who allegedly are not receiving access to the general curriculum (i.e., the curriculum expected to be taught to all students), or students who allegedly are not receiving procedural protections that by law must be provided. The System is staffed by Educational Specialists who respond to questions regarding education laws, regulations, or policies and refer questions to other knowledgeable persons where necessary.
Advocates for Autism of Massachusetts was formed in 2004 to address the need for public advocacy on behalf of individuals, families and professionals who have or deal with people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) which also encompasses Asperger's Syndrome and high-functioning Autism. The organization provides an important arena for mobilizing those of us who deal with ASD in our day-to-day lives as the most eloquent and persuasive spokespeople for our concerns. Our efforts focus not only on the State House but also on towns and city halls that also have responsibility for service delivery and funding.
