In the Volkswagen case the ultimate challenge concerned creating a joint agreement that respected the idiosyncrasies of 29 different countries spanning four continents. Even though, this study has a particular European focus, the four case studies involving England, Germany, Italy and Spain, they are highly informative and offer possible lessons beyond these four countries. By highlighting the national context, the Bentley, Volkswagen/Audi, Lamborghini and Seat cases exemplifies an important quality to be found in the Volkswagen Charters, that of flexibility.
